Privacy policy

1. What we collect

• Breath-test results: stored only in your browser's localStorage (best times, training progress) so the timer and charts work. We never receive, store, or see these values on any server.
• Contact emails: if you email hello@breathtestonline.com, we receive your address and message so we can reply. That's it.
• Basic server logs: our hosting provider may log standard technical data (IP address, user agent, pages visited) for security and reliability, retained briefly and not used to profile you.

2. Cookies & local storage

We use localStorage (not tracking cookies) for functional preferences: your theme choice (bt-theme), ad-consent choice (bt-consent), best breath-hold times, and trainer progress. Clearing your browser data wipes these. Fonts are self-hosted on this domain — no requests to Google Fonts or other third parties for fonts.

When advertising is enabled, Google AdSense and its partners may set or read cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) on your browser to serve, personalize, limit, and measure ads — for example to remember that you saw an ad, to show you more relevant ads, and to prevent fraud. This is done by Google as an independent controller under Google's own Advertising Policy andPrivacy Policy.

You can control ad personalization: turn off personalized ads atGoogle Ad Settings, block third-party cookies in your browser, use our consent banner's "Decline" option (we then request only non-personalized ads where supported), or opt out viayouronlinechoices.eu.

3. Advertising (Google AdSense)

We plan to fund this free site with Google AdSense display ads. AdSense may collect or use technical data such as cookie identifiers, IP address (truncated/anonymized where required), device and browser information, pages viewed, and ad interactions — to serve ads, measure performance, prevent fraud, and comply with the law.

• Personalized ads (with your consent): in the EU/UK/EEA we ask for consent via our banner before Google serves personalized ads. Accepting allows Google and its ad technology partners to process data for ad personalization.
• Non-personalized ads (if you decline): you still see ads, but they are based on page context rather than your profile. Some cookies are still used for frequency capping, measurement, and fraud prevention.
• No health profiling by us: your breath-hold times never leave your device and are never shared with Google or any advertiser. We do not pass health data, names, or emails to ad providers.

You can change your choice anytime by clearing the bt-consent entry in your browser's local storage (clearing site data) and reloading — the banner will reappear. After AdSense approval we will also list our publisher ID in /ads.txt.

4. Analytics

We may use privacy-friendly, aggregate analytics (e.g. page views, referrers) to understand which guides help people most. If enabled, it is configured without cross-site tracking and without selling data. You can block it with any standard tracker blocker and the site keeps working fully.

5. How we use information

• Operate the site: serve the timer, trainer, and guides.
• Reply to messages you send us.
• Keep the site secure and fix bugs.
• Fund the free site with ads (see sections 2–3), without selling personal data.

We do not sell, rent, or share personal information for marketing. Ever.

6. Data retention

Browser-stored results live on your device until you clear them. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to handle your request, then deleted on request.

7. Children

This site is a general wellness game and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. Breath-holding exercises are not suitable for young children — adult supervision and seated, gentle practice only.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g. GDPR in the EU/UK, CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Since we hold almost nothing, most requests are trivially satisfiable — emailhello@breathtestonline.com with "Privacy request" in the subject and we'll respond promptly.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be noted here. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
